NETHERFIELD Cricket Club Junior section rounded off a fantastic season with three finals on the last day of the season. The U11, U13 and U16s won their northern sections of the Westmorland League and then played against the winners of the southern section.

Burneside punish Arnside batting call

ARNSIDE hoped to capitalise by asking Burneside to bat on a soft, wet wicket and at 35-3 the verdict looked to be swinging in their favour. But the home team limped to 63 without further loss after 30 overs before the acceleration came and Wilson and Oakes' 77-run partnership did the trick. Wilson missed out on a deserved half-century when caught and bowled for 46, while Oates sacrificed his wicket for 38 in the chase for runs.
