AN ATHLETE of the future stole the show in the Mid Lancs Cross Country race inThorncliffe, Barrow.
Fraser Sproul, 11, of Kendal Amateur Athletics Club, put clear daylight between himself and the rest of the field when he romped home in a time of six minutes 10 seconds.
His performance prompted the Mid Lancs Cross Country secretary, Dawn Lock, to say: "He's a very talented boy. He's in a class of his own."
In the senior men's race, the prodigal son returned as Mark Roberts, a vet 50 runner, competed for the first time in 17 years.
Incredibly he finished seventeenth overall in a time of 32 minutes, less than three minutes behind the race winner Chris Farrell from the Horwich Harriers.
