YOUNGEST-EVER black belt at Kendal Shotokan Karate Club is 10-years-old Kayleigh Chaplow (pictured right), who has been training at the club for three years.
She is seen sparring with another new black belt Logan Barr, who has just turned 16 and has also been training for three years.
After five hours of hard training and grading at Barnsley over a weekend, both Kayleigh and Logan successfully achieved the first dan black-belt status under Britain's top instructor Sensei Andy Sherry, 8th Dan.
Anyone over the age of nine (male and female) can join the Kendal club, which operates from Castle Street Youth Centre on Mondays and Wednesdays (6pm-7.30pm) and St George's Church Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays (6.30pm-8pm). (Picture by Tony Cooper)
