SEVERAL rights of way in the Lake District National Park will be closed next month when a major rally takes place in Grizedale Forest. More than 100 cars will compete in the Grizedale Stages Rally 2005 on Saturday, December 4, using forest tracks on the western side of Grizedale Forest and on Forestry Commission land at Broughton Moor. As a result, all forest footpaths, bridleways and unsurfaced roads between Coniston Water and the Hawkshead to Satterthwaite Road and two others at Broughton Moor will be closed during the event. SPORTING youngsters in a South Lakeland village look set to benefit from a new recreation area after the district council's planning committee approved plans for a new playing field.
