NETHERFIELD maintained their assault on the Northern Cricket League top three with a seven-wicket victory at Leyland on Saturday.
Meanwhile, second-placed Kendal slipped up when losing by 43 runs in a low-scoring match at home to another of the title challengers Morecambe.
Netherfield bowled out Leyland for just 106 in 35.2 overs with professional Ameer Khan making 56 of that score and only Karl Cross (13) in double figures as well.
Australian professional Callum Ferguson took 5-26 and Chris Miller 3-25.
Netherfield knocked off the runs in 25.2 overs at 109-3, with Ferguson hitting 48 not out in a fine all-round display and skipper Chris Parry finishing unbeaten on 39.
At Kendal, Morecambe were dismissed for 117 in 47.2 overs.
No. 8 Tommy Clough was 32 not out and ex-Kendal wicketkeeper Damien Gudgeon offered support with 17 as they held up the Kendal charge.
Professional Ross McMillan took 3-26, Stuart Parkin 3-24 and Kevin Howarth 3-29.
But Kendal wilted with the bat as Gareth Peddar (4-22) and Bruce Martin (3-20) took charge for the visitors.
After the openers failed to make an impact, McMillan went for a duck and Terry Hunte was out for 14 as Donovan Du Plessis top-scored with 16.
Kendal were all out for 74 in 29.3 overs, but are still in second place behind Blackpool (182pts) - winners against Darwen - although 11 points off the pacesetters with 171pts as Morecambe (165) nd Netherfield (159) closed up in third and fourth places respectively
