STUDENTS staged a protest at Lancaster Uni-versity over action involving an alleged incident last September.
Six students protested against what they claim is a denial of free speech after they found out there are to be prosecuted.
They took part in a protest at a university-backed conference in the George Fox building on campus last September.
Police attended but took no action in respect of aggravated trespass.
However, the six protestors calling themselves the George Fox Six - received court summonses in February. They are charged with aggravated trespass and are due to appear before Preston Magistrates' Court on June 17.
Protester Jo Moodie says: "It's upsetting to see Lancaster University, with its reputation for free thinking, prosecuting its own students.
"We're just a group of ordinary students who wanted to make a stand on what we believe are serious ethical issues. This prosecution is seriously affecting my ability to study."
A spokesman for the university declined to comment on the matter because of the ongoing legal action.
