ALL the excitement of a day at the races is coming to the New Hutton Institute next week in a bid to raise £2,000 for the essential maintenance this much-loved community centre needs.
In what looks set to be a fun-filled evening, New Hutton Race Night will offer people a pie and pea supper, as well as the opportunity to win a prize or two on the horses.
In preparation for event, the community have organised for a company from Manchester to come to the institute and project horse racing on to large screens.
Local people and businesses will then be invited to sponsor horses and jockeys, with all money being donated to the maintenance fund.
One of the organisers of the event, David Knowles, said: "Maintenance of the building is ongoing and we want to build up a reserve of cash so we have the money there when we need it and we need it now. A village hall needs to be warm, clean and up to date. This is a big event and we are hoping to raise a bit more to pay for a new sound system and to decorate the outside of the building.
"It will be a fantastic event with a really great atmosphere," he added.
Tickets for the event, which takes place next Saturday (January 26) at 7:30pm, cost £7.
