The next meeting of the Upper Kent Neighbourhood Forum will take place in Sedgwick Village Hall at 7.30pm on Wednesday 28 May 2008.
If you need or can offer a lift, please call Debbie or Kath on 01539 773180 This Neighbourhood Forum is organised by Cumbria County Council in order to encourage communication between residents, service providers and Councillors.
The Forums can give details about issues of interest to local people and give a chance to raise concerns and ideas for the area.
The Forum holds five public meetings a year and you are very welcome.
Please share this invitation with others who might be interested in attending.
AGENDA: 1. WELCOME (and any declarations of interest from County Councillors) 2. LOCAL VIEW Adam and Bridget Pickthall will give a brief local view' about Hincaster. They will also make mention of the work going on to use the old railway line from Hincaster to Arnside as a recreational route.
3. PLANNING FOR EMERGENCIES IN CUMBRIA Hopefully, a large scale emergency situation will never occur in Cumbria. However, hoping is not enough and Chris Briggs from the County's Emergency Planning section will explain about the range of possible incidents, and the work being done behind the scenes to deal with them should they occur.
4. THE CHILDREN'S CENTRE COMES TO UPPER KENT The Children's Centre brings together a range of services for children and their parents. Barnardo's has recently won the contract to run the Children's Centre in this area and Roger Aitken will explain how it will work and how children will benefit.
5. COMMUNITY NOTICEBOARD You are welcome to raise an issue, suggest an idea, mention local meetings, events and information 6. GRANT APPLICATIONS FROM LOCAL GROUPS AND PROJECT COMPLETION REPORTS Representatives from local groups applying to the Forum for a grant will take a few minutes to explain about their application.
