Woman injured in town centre road accident

POLICE in Kendal are urging motorists to avoid the centre of the town after Blackhall Road was closed to allow emergency services to deal with a road accident.

At around 12:15pm police received reports that a woman pedestrian had been involved the accident with a Ford Transit van close to the telephone exchange in Blackhall Road.

The pedestrian is not thought to be local to the area and has been taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary for treatment.

Diversions are in place along Wildman Street.

The road is likely to remain closed for two or three hours
