High class meal - take two!

A Cumbrian chef has been inundated by walkers wanting to make reservations at England's highest restaurant, which opens for business next week.

Peter Sidwell announced in March that he planned to open a restaurant for a special lunch on top of Skiddaw during the Cumberland Ale Keswick Mountain Festival.

He now plans to serve the high altitude three course lunches on Thursday, May 15, as well as on Wednesday, May 14, to meet some of the extra demand.

Sixty tickets have been sold for the meals, which will be served in specialist tents on the 3,000 foot peak. Reservations have been made by people from as far afield as Surrey, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle.

Instead of the usual mountain-top fare of sandwiches and fruit cake wrapped in cellophane, the diners can look forward to a high-class meal seated at a table after completing their ascent.
