Liberal Democrats dominate elections
THE Liberal Democrats have recorded a resounding victory in the local district council elections.
Voters gave a resounding backing to the party, with 36 of the 51 available seats being taken.
The Conservatives were a distant second with 14 seats, while Labour came third with one seat. The Green party have no seats, after candidate Enda Farrell lost Kendal Far Cross.
Speaking on behalf of the Liberal Democrats, South Lakeland District Council leader, Brendan Jameson, who retained his seat at Kendal Park, said: "All 51 seats were up for grabs so logistically it was very demanding, but I think we have proved to the people of South Lakeland that we have delivered over the past two years, and we have been given the mandate to continue doing that."

For any party to have a majority of 70% on a Council is a disaster the more so because they are unelectable at a National level.
However the Conservatives really have themselves to blame and must galvanise workers locally and at least counter the welter of propoganda paper which the Liberals bombard us with.

Mike cleal, I could not have wrote a better comment. You stated my sentiments entirely.

no ward by ward election results 5 days after the vote. Do you not understand that readers want to know more.

A distinct lack of living in the real world, and this wasn't helped by one of the local Conservative candidates who asked my wife (age 39) if her mother was in! No wonder they lost in our ward.
I have voted Conservative in the past but there was absolutely no way I was going to vote for them this time on that kind of presentation.
