Technical problems delay TV signal return
TELEVISION viewers in parts of South Lakes and North Lancashire continue to suffer disruption to their programme reception following a technical hitch during digital changeover work.
Many people have been unable to watch BBC programmes and signals from other stations have also been affected during work on the transmitter between Nether Kellett and Halton.
The main signal from the mast was cut at around 8.30 am yesterday and was intended to be restored in time for early evening programmes.
A spokesman for Digital UK said: "The work on the antenna was supposed to have been completed by 6pm, but is proving more problematic than first envisaged. However, the contractors have assured us that it will be completed later today."

The amount of downtime and the "more problematic" reasons given just show that the job really wasn't planned properly and the "contractors" didn't have a backup plan if it went wrong. Reading between the lines - sounds like they blew something they shouldn't have and didn't have the parts on the van !!
Really good timing too, Easter week - area full of tourists + still dark nights for more people to rely on TV. Looks like they totally forgot that other relay transmitters rely upon a signal from Lancaster especially for BBC signals.
Come on Digital UK and BBC (check their http://www.bbc.co.uk
/reception/transmitt
ers/index.shtml website) we should expect better service from a "planned" operation. So much for the almost "seemless" switchover to Digital TV that has been promised - over 24 hours without ANY (i.e. analogue or digital) TV signal from Lancaster here is NOT seemless !!!!
