TV signal will be back by 6pm
THE television signal to parts of South Lakes and North Lancashire, which has been cut off since this morning because of work to a transmitter mast, will be restored this evening.
The planned signal interruption is a result of engineering work to the transmitter mast in Lancaster in preparation for digital switchover.
Services are expected to return to normal at 6pm once a new aerial has been fitted.
The digital switchover is due to take place in the north west of England next year and by 2012 every transmitter in the country will have to be replaced or upgraded before analogue services are switched off completely.

No, you'll have to wait until switch over June 2009, unless you are currently able to get freeview from the Lancaster transmitter.
The transmitter work has over run, there will be no analogue BBC1 / 2 in Kendal tonight, just when the Apprentice starts

8.00 pm, all is not lost!!...wife delegated to climb on roof with torch and swing aerial back to Kendal transmitter.
