Kendal Town Hall will open its doors to the South Lakes ‘beer event of the year’ on Wednesday, October 8, when Westmorland CAMRA holds its 15th annual beer festival.

More than 50 different real ales will be served but the focus this year will be on all 23 Cumbrian microbreweries to celebrate their phenomenal success both nationally and locally.

At this year’s Great British Beer Festival in London, Beckstones Black Dog Freddy (brewed near Millom) won gold in its category and was Festival’s overall silver winner. Three other Cumbrian beers reached the festival final – Great Gable Burnmoor Pale Ale, Hawkshead Gold and Yates Feverpitch.

Also on sale at the town hall will be a selection of ciders, perries and bottled beers, and for those drinkers who like a little something to eat with their beer there will be a selection of local speciality foods including cheeses, cooked meats, Peter Gott’s wild boar pies and Staff of Life breads.

The beer festival is open daily from Wednesday through to Saturday (October 11) from noon until 11pm.
