Travel the globe and you will find that beans and pulses underpin many a cuisine.
In some cases they are the national dish, such as the wonderful Brazilian Feijoada based on the black turtle bean. What’s more they come in a myriad of shapes, colours and sizes.
High in protein, virtually fat free and with more fibre than many wholegrains, beans are one of nature’s healthiest foods!
Easy Bean, a new food company, has set itself the task of giving the humble bean a culinary facelift.
The new Easy Bean range - now available in Artisan at Booths in Kendal - takes you on a culinary trek from New Mexico to Morocco, Spain, Africa and India. Inspiration for the bean-pots was taken from authentic recipes.
They can be enjoyed on-the-go as a light lunch or snack. As beans have a low Gi index it means you feel fuller for longer! Or alternatively they are great for a mid-week supper; just serve with rice or couscous or pasta.
