A UNIQUE set of horse sculptures carefully crafted using hundreds of discarded horseshoes raised more than £8,000 when they went under the hammer in Penrith.

The three impressive sculptures, which were created by Donald Punton –a retired Cumbrian joiner and carpenter- were the main feature at the recent Penrith Farmers’ & Kidd’s Antiques & Collectors catalogue sale.
