Man suffers fractured collar bone in Furness accident

A MOTORIST had to be cut free from his car after the second serious road traffic collision in Dalton-in-Furness in the space of three days.

The 27-year-old man from Coventry suffered a fractured collar bone and cuts to his face, in the accident in Newton Road, when the silver Honda Civic he was driving collided with a 14-ton Mercedes tipper lorry, driven by a 36-year-old Barrow man, just after 8.30am on Wednesday.

The lorry driver had to be treated for shock, and both men were taken to Furness General Hospital The road was closed for more than an hour, with diversions in place, causing delays for local traffic.
