National Trust give staff day to go green

With 366 days, 2008 is a leap year, and while tradition states that once every four years it is acceptable for a woman to propose to her man, the National Trust is making the extra day count in a very different way...

All National Trust staff are being given the opportunity to spend the day at home or in their local community, making changes to improve their environmental footprint - from switching to energy saving lightbulbs to establishing a compost heap - every little helps.

This follows on from the UK's first energy saving day, which begins from 6pm on 27 February for 24 hours.
