FIREFIGHTERS from Kendal were called to the scene of a blaze at a barn in New Hutton this afternoon (Thursday, November 15).
Crew members from two appliances found the building well alight when they arrived shortly after 2.30pm.
The fire was extinguished using two main hose reel jets, a main jet, ground monitor and a portable pump.
A spokesman for the fire service said the crews were at the scene for around three hours.
"The barn was extensively damaged in the fire but was extinguished with the assistance of local farmers who helped remove bales of straw."
