The final two carriages were shipped out yesterday evening, closely followed by the 800 tonne crane.
The 1000 tonne crane was taken out this morning. The plan is to use the newly constructed hard standing at the crash site as a temporary car park to get all vehicles off the A685, which is now open.
Network rail staff and contractors will be working on site for some weeks to come, repairing the track and overhead power cables to get the trains running again, and then putting the land back to a decent state.
The public are asked to be aware of the extra vehicles coming and going over the next few weeks and take good care to account for them on your journeys along the A685 and in the Docker Hall/Cross Houses area.
The public meeting on Tuesday evening (tomorrow), 8.30pm in Grayrigg Church will give you a forum at which to speak face to face with representatives of British Transport Police, Cumbria Constabulary and Railtrack, in the hope we can address your fears and expectation with facts and reassurance.
